Imagine for a moment that you feel numb on one side of your body or you find yourself a bit more clumsy than normal. Fatigue takes over and you begin to slur your words. People suffering from Multiple Sclerosis know these as cues to what their disease is all about - repeated unpredictable symptoms of a nervous system that has broken down. They must learn to accept it, manage it and adjust over and over.
To be told you have Multiple Sclerosis leads to a numbing vulnerability that is often pyschologically as well as physically debilitating and you experience many different emotions. With each individual, the disease is different.
Each must look to others for support and understanding and if individuals are not fortunate enough to have the emotional support of family or financial means to deal with this disease, it can be devastating. Jobs are lost, relationships can be affected, and the many day-to-day adjustments take their toll on all involved. When starting the Kelly Packowski MS Foundation, we had these people in mind.
The Kelly Packowski MS Foundation???s sole purpose is to support individuals and their families from the New England area who are affected by Multiple Sclerosis. We are committed to helping make their daily lives more manageable both financially and emotionally when battling this disease. Each person with MS faces different challenges and we promise to address each individual???s specific needs.
