As I approach my ten year mark since being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, I have found myself reflecting on my journey and wondering what lay ahead of me. I have had my share of adversities since being diagnosed. Countless drug therapies in an attempt to keep my MS under control, severe MS relapses which have tested my strength as well as my spirit and changes to my body that have left me, at times, discouraged and afraid.
Although having Multiple Sclerosis is often unpredictable and frightening, for me there have also been some positive aspects as well. First and foremost, my husband and children’s love and support, we have always been a very open and close family but since MS came into our lives, we are much more aware of each others needs and the unconditional love that my family has shown me at the times when I am unable to care for them or myself is truly a blessing. MS has taught us to never let a day go by without telling the ones you love how important they are and how much they mean to you.
Second, the inception of The Kelly Packowski MS Foundation, we have been very fortunate to have worked along side such wonderful and caring individuals who have dedicated so much of their time and efforts into our mission of changing one life at a time. We have also had the pleasure of meeting some truly special families struggling with this disease. They have taught me how to cope with the many aspects of this illness and have shown me what courage and strength truly are.
I would like to thank those who have supported us thus far and to encourage those who have not to read the inspirational stories through out our web page. Thank you for your interest in what I feel is a truly worthy cause...
